Video Summary
The webinar introduced CASE’s new Advancement Analytics Maturity Index, a survey designed to measure how effectively colleges and universities use data, analytics, and AI in advancement. Jenny Cook-Smith explained CASE Insights and how this project fits CASE’s goals in data standards, benchmarking, and research. Dr. Ujwal Kayande then described the index, originally developed in the commercial sector, and why it matters for advancement: analytics should improve decision-making, not just reporting.

He outlined four maturity dimensions: strategy and leadership, culture and governance, talent and skills, and data ecosystem. Organizations are grouped into four stages: laggards, followers, explorers, and leaders. His research found that maturity is strongly linked to better outcomes, but technology alone is not enough—leadership and culture matter most. He emphasized that many organizations get stuck in the middle, and that investing in tools without clear leadership can reduce value.

An example from L’Oréal showed how one organization moved from laggard to leader by assigning accountability, creating a strategy, and acting on insights. CASE is now inviting schools, colleges, and universities to complete a 15-minute survey by October 16. Participants receive a confidential maturity report and recommendations, while CASE will publish an anonymized sector-wide white paper.
