Video Summary
CASE’s alumni engagement webinar introduced the CASE Insights survey, its benefits, and how to participate. The survey supports benchmarking, strategic planning, KPI development, and evidence-based investment decisions. Institutions can use results to identify opportunities, build collaboration across campus, and understand how engagement relates to fundraising and other outcomes.

The CASE framework defines alumni engagement as a mutually beneficial relationship and measures four modes: volunteering, philanthropy, communication, and experiential activities. The survey is available in full and short versions. Required sections collect institutional and alumni counts, engagement totals, and confidence in the completeness of reported data. Optional sections examine staffing and investment, combinations of engagement modes, social media, events, graduation cohorts, technology, and how institutions use the results.

This year’s updates include revised questions about alumni-relations structure and staffing, clearer guidance for classifying volunteer activities, and a new optional section on social media measurement. Speakers emphasized that reporting combinations of modes can reveal engagement depth and help identify prospects and potential volunteers.

Participants receive access to aggregated findings, historical data in CASE’s Data Portal, and an interactive benchmarking report. They can also create custom comparisons, purchase strategic reports, or join peer benchmarking cohorts. The survey is open through January 15, with an extension to February 28 for eligible calendar-year institutions in Latin America, Australia, and New Zealand.

Survey access is through the CASE Insights data site; users need individual accounts and survey permissions. Guidance documents and a data-collection workbook are available. The CASE team invited participants to contact insights@case.org for assistance.
