Video Summary
CASE hosted a webinar introducing the 2026 CASE Insights on Philanthropy survey for Canadian higher education. Deborah Trumbull, Danielle Lamothe, Kisa Zormello, and Dominic Law explained why participation matters, how institutions use the data for benchmarking, goal setting, and strategic planning, and how the survey supports stronger advancement practices across Canada.

The session reviewed the survey timeline, login process, survey sections, validation checks, and available support resources. It also highlighted updates to the data sharing agreement: beginning with 2026 data, participating institutions’ names will be shown alongside their data in the benchmarking portal, enabling more robust, customizable comparisons and easier peer collaboration.

Presenters emphasized that the survey is designed to be manageable despite staffing and budget constraints, with embedded definitions, optional questions, and guidance documents to simplify completion. They also previewed new benchmarking tools, including comparison groups, sorted lists, slideshows, and a data explorer, plus summary and strategic benchmarking reports.

Overall, the webinar encouraged all eligible institutions to participate, stressing that more data leads to better insights for individual campuses and the sector as a whole.
