Pdf Summary
The presentation introduces CASE Insights on Philanthropy for the United Kingdom and Ireland (UKI), an annual survey and authoritative source of higher-education fundraising data, conducted since 2001–02. It explains how CASE Global Reporting Standards promote consistent, transparent reporting and distinguish between Funds Received (money and property received during the year) and New Funds Committed (new pledges, gifts, or legacy intentions secured). Participation helps institutions benchmark against peers, assess fundraising strategies, identify priorities, support planning and investment decisions, and improve data practices. CASE emphasizes that institutions of every size should take part—including those with small teams or a year of reduced or paused activity—so sector findings represent the full range of activity. The 2025–26 survey is scheduled to run from 1 September to 30 November 2026, with extensions available on request. There are full and short survey options, and no changes to definitions or questions. Institutions can enter data through the CASE survey portal, share access among multiple users, save work in progress, and use built-in validation checks. After resolving required errors, participants mark the survey complete and submit it for review. Participants receive access to sector findings, historical survey data, interactive benchmarking reports, and tools for creating custom comparison groups and reports. UKI philanthropy benchmarking data is available to institutions that participated in the most recent survey. The presentation also highlights other CASE resources, including alumni engagement research, the Advancement Analytics Maturity Index, research on fund management and giving days, benchmarking cohorts, and specialist networks. Institutions are encouraged to begin entering data through insightsdata.case.org. For survey access, support, or deadline extensions, contact insights@case.org.
