Video Summary
The Case Insights on Fund Management webinar, led by Jenny Cook-Smith, highlighted key findings from a collaborative project between CASE and FundMiner. The goal was to improve fund management practices across educational institutions. The effort has included surveys and roundtables to identify challenges and share best practices.

Key focus areas were oversight and responsibility, standards and best practices, impact and financial reporting, and continuous monitoring and data hygiene. Participants emphasized the interdisciplinary nature of fund management, requiring collaboration across departments.

Most institutions are in the early stages of developing fund management processes, seeking clearer standards and more resources. Common obstacles include data silos, inadequate training, and lack of leadership buy-in. Despite challenges, there's optimism that enhanced fund management will improve donor retention and ethical engagement.

In financial reporting, institutions excel more than in impact reporting, which remains an area for growth. Innovative practices include using surveys to gauge donor satisfaction, customizing communication to showcase specific impacts, and expanding efforts to report on unrestricted and other fund types.

Moving forward, the partnership aims to deepen understanding, formulate standards, and create recommendations, with an emphasis on continuous improvement and leveraging community insights. Participants are encouraged to join future discussions and contribute to ongoing development efforts.

The webinar called for active engagement from attendees, inviting them to share experiences and join a community focused on refining fund management practices across the sector.
