Diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) have become fundamental and prominent priorities in society and the philanthropy sector is now more explicitly focused on responding to the DEIB challenge as well. The urgency to increase the engagement and giving from alumni of different lived experiences is widespread throughout higher education, but the prospect research data, strategies and approach to identifying and systematically including alumni of color in major gift prospect pools has remained a conundrum.
 
This session will discuss reframing DEIB goals as fundamental to best practice advancement. The identification of monetary and non-monetary goals that contribute to the achievement of DEB goals as part of campaign priorities will be explored. This session will also confirm the importance of campaign steering committee member selection, identification of diverse campaign volunteers, inclusive campaign marketing strategies, gift opportunities that support campus diversity priorities, and prospect research approaches to ensure effective engagement of diverse prospects and donors that result in increased interest, involvement and investment in institutional and campaign priorities.
