Fundraising at community colleges is about more than strategies and donor materials—it starts with the right mindset. A campus culture that values philanthropy is the foundation for sustainable success. Without it, even the most ambitious goals can fall short. In this session, we’ll explore how internal culture—from cabinet-level leadership to faculty and staff—shapes fundraising outcomes. You’ll learn how to: Assess your institution’s current attitudes toward philanthropy Identify cultural barriers that limit engagement Implement practical strategies to foster shared responsibility for fundraising success We’ll share real-world examples from Barton Community College, KS, and Monroe Community College, NY, to help you strengthen your culture of giving and boost engagement and support. Plus, gain insights from CASE on best practices for creating a campus-wide commitment to philanthropy.
Lindsey Bogner, Executive Director of Institutional Advancement, Barton Community College

She has an 18-year background in philanthropy and marketing in different industries. Her unconventional journey, starting as a Unit Public Affairs Representative (UPAR) in the Kansas Army National Guard and progressing through healthcare to education, has distinctly shaped her approach to institutional advancement. Along with a Masters in Management and Leadership and a Bachelors in Technology Systems, specializing in Communication Systems, she also holds a variety of certifications in leadership, nonprofit accounting, and emergency preparedness.


Gretchen Wood
, Vice President, Institutional Advancement, Monroe Community College and Executive Director, MCC Foundation.

In addition to overseeing the College’s Community Relations, Institutional Research, Institutional Planning, Effectiveness and Accountability, and Institutional Compliance and Internal Audit departments, she facilitates a comprehensive fundraising program in support of the College led by a volunteer board of 59 business and community leaders. Gretchen holds a Master of Public Administration degree with a concentration in Nonprofit Management from SUNY Brockport and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and English Education from Syracuse University. 
Meg Natter, Director, Community Colleges & Foundations, CASE

Meg Natter joined CASE in 2023 and serves as Director of Community Colleges and Foundations within the Membership, Engagement, and Volunteerism division. For over 20 years, Meg worked at Brookdale Community College in New Jersey, U.S., in several leadership roles, including Dean of its Humanities Institute, Assistant Professor in the English and Women’s & Gender Studies departments, and Executive Director of the college’s foundation. Her advancement career includes five years as Senior Development Officer at Ocean Medical Center in New Jersey, where she focused on major gifts, and she earned the Certified Fund Raising Executive credential for six years.
