From Compliance to Connection: Reimagining Privacy at OSUF
About

Part One: From Compliance to Trust: How OSU Foundation Built Buy-In for a Privacy-First Future
1:00 - 2:00 PM ET | November 17, 2025

Presenters: Mark Koenig, Chief Innovation Officer and Vice President, Technology at Oregon State University Foundation, and Elyse Wallnutt, Founder and Principal, Agility Lab Consulting

This webinar explores how the Oregon State University Foundation (OSUF) proactively responded to the evolving U.S. privacy landscape—especially Oregon’s inclusion of nonprofits in its new privacy law, the Oregon Consumer Privacy Act. Rather than treating privacy as a compliance checkbox, OSUF framed it as a trust-building opportunity with alumni and donors.

We’ll outline OSUF’s journey from fragmented data practices to a unified, values-driven privacy framework and highlight how cross-functional collaboration, strategic alignment, and shared language helped build organizational buy-in. Key outcomes include a comprehensive privacy policy, updated engagement practices, and infrastructure for transparent data governance. The webinar concludes with lessons learned and practical takeaways for peer institutions, emphasizing that privacy is a strategic asset rooted in mission alignment and donor trust.
