Video Summary
The webinar began with an introduction and participant engagement exercise focused on institutional groups and collaboration priorities. Kilian, former Director of Communications and Outreach at the American University of Paris (AUP), presented an award-winning case study from 2023-24 about building community and bridging gaps between faculty and staff through an innovative annual joint retreat. This retreat, expanded from a half-day faculty pedagogy event to a full-day inclusive experience, emphasized shared strategic conversations, leadership visibility, active participation, and balance between substantive and lighthearted activities. Outcomes included strengthened connections, recognition of diverse contributions to student learning, and sustained institutional dialogue. The retreat's success led to its continuation and growth in subsequent years.

Following this, a second session explored practical uses of AI in advancement and communications, highlighting tools like ChatGPT for drafting communications, task prioritization, brainstorming engagement ideas, event planning, data analysis, storytelling, and professional coaching. Key advice included ensuring data privacy, customizing AI outputs to maintain authenticity, and combining AI assistance with personal reflection. Attendees shared experiences from various contexts, including South Africa, reinforcing AI’s utility for mundane tasks and creative brainstorming.

The webinar concluded with resources on AI policy, upcoming CASE events, and opportunities for professional development. Kilian and the host welcomed further conversations and collaboration among participants.
