Pdf Summary
The Personal Consultancy Dilemma Homework requires participants to come up with a personal dilemma related to their work. The idea is to bring a problem that is still puzzling them, rather than something they have already figured out or that involves getting other people to change. The purpose of this exercise is to receive feedback and support from the cohort or consultancy group.

To frame the dilemma, participants are asked to consider certain criteria. The dilemma should be something that bothers them enough to constantly think about it, it should not already be on its way to being resolved, and it should not rely on getting other people to change. It should also be something important to them and something they are willing to work on.

Some questions that might help in framing the dilemma include: why is this a dilemma, why is it important, and what have already been done to address it.

Participants are then instructed to formulate a focus question for their cohort group that gets to the heart of the matter. This question will guide the group in discussing and brainstorming possible solutions.

During the session, each person has 8 minutes to present their dilemma, with 2 minutes for the presenter to describe the dilemma, 2 minutes for the group to ask clarifying questions and develop a shared understanding of the problem, and 4 minutes for the group to brainstorm possible solutions.

This exercise is developed by the National School Reform Faculty at Harmony Education Center.
